Martin Howell

When doing art I often use paint because the colours stand out well. I also like using oil pastel because it gives a strong affect on the picture. I use pencil for shading some parts.

I chose to do the lino cut called ‘River Boats’ because I thought it would look great in that medium. The idea to do the boats on the Thames River in London just came into my head.

My favourite subjects to draw are Theme Parks, people, railway level crossings, cars (especially dashboards), and flags of the different countries of the world.

I really enjoy art because I do a variety of things like lino cuts, screen printing, painting on canvases, drawing and etching.

I use a lot of bright colours but I also like drawing black and white pictures and doing the lino cuts because it does give me a break from all that colour!

Martin Howell’s ‘Fantastic Ford’ was the recipient of the Special Mention award at the 2009 Yooralla Showcasing Ability art show.
